Italy: A Style Diary

Ciao, Haulers! I’m just back from Italy where I spent two weeks with only a carry-on and a backpack. I brought a handful of basic tops to go with my not-so-basic bottoms, with the hope that I could create more than one outfit with limited pieces. I also threw in a few dresses for fun.

JoellenLove Joellen Lu Style Stories

Style Stories: Joellen Lu

Senior Social Media Manager Joellen Lu’s style is fashion-forward, carefree, and, what I like to call, “kinda sleepy.” It’s effort with an effortless affect. High + low. Ripped stockings, chipped polish, and $400 Maryam Nassir Zadeh block heel mules. She’s anti fast-fashion. She never brushes her hair. She refuses to invest in a $15 manicure. She loves vintage Gucci.

Before Anything Else: Intern Edition

“Monthly Favorites” is the YouTube tag that refuses to die, and for good reason: 1) it’s a great way to share and discover new and thrilling products/tools/snacks/media, and 2) there’s nothing more compelling than knowing what other people find compelling. Before Anything Else is our version of “Monthly Favorites,” and each month we feature new people with new perspectives. This month’s BAE features our intern crew: Andrea Kostovick, Mallory Wackerman, Francesca Mosconi, and Eliz Kuscu.

Alicia Claire de Mello on Thrifting & Ethical Fashion

Two years ago I decided to start a YouTube channel. I struggled over what video should be my first, but eventually decided on a thrift haul, as I’ve always been an avid thrifter. To my surprise, that video did fairly well, and now thrift hauls are definitely my most watched type of content. Which, of course, excites me, because thrifting has always been my primary way of purchasing new clothing.

Before Anything Else: August

Before Anything Else is our version of “Monthly Favorites,” and each month we feature a new person with a new perspective. This month’s BAE is Chiaki Samonte, our graphic designer.

Before Anything Else: Travel Prep Edition

Traveling is an expensive hobby of mine, but I’ve been guiltlessly devoted to it for as long as I can remember. There’s nothing more thrilling than exploring new places, facing the unknown, and temporarily living a life that’s not my own!

Girl Crush: The Maverick Muse

@msmaverickmuse has created a fashion-forward, hyper styled IG feed that looks as if it’s run by a team of ten, when in actuality, it’s a one-woman show. Here, below, the muse talks with us about creative expression, industry challenges, and the power of the nonverbal cue.
