“Monthly Favorites” is the YouTube tag that refuses to die, and for good reason: 1) it’s a great way to share and discover new and thrilling products/tools/snacks/media, and 2) there’s nothing more compelling than knowing what other people find compelling. Before Anything Else is our version of “Monthly Favorites,” and each month we feature new people with new perspectives. This month’s BAE features our intern crew: Andrea Kostovick, Mallory Wackerman, Francesca Mosconi, and Eliz Kuscu.

Andrea Kostovick

I’ve been fighting a battle with flat roots ever since the first time I flipped open a magazine and discovered that volume was a thing. How exciting to learn that my hair didn’t have to cling to my cheeks! But how exactly was I supposed to achieve that full, fluffy look? Recently I discovered Aquage Uplifting Foam – it’s a light and airy mousse that lifts roots without leaving behind a sticky or greasy residue. And the scent is great – so tropical and breezy!

Mallory Wackerman

I’ve always struggled to find everyday lipsticks that look natural, that don’t get all over everything, and that I don’t need to reapply 10,000 times a day. One beauty product I’ve been OBSESSED with lately is the flower balm from Winky Lux. It’s a balm that adjusts to my lip’s natural PH, turning them a pretty, natural pink color. I love that it comes with a flower inside of it too!

Pro-tip: hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! If you have dry lips like I do, make sure you always give your lips enough moisture before and after applying this product.

Francesca Mosconi

I have combination skin, so I’m always trying to find the perfect moisturizer or cleanser that won’t leave my face too dry or too oily. This month I’m using Mario Badescu’s Cleansing Milk with Carnations & Rice Oil. Every morning and night I massage the product into my face and then wipe it off with a cotton ball. My skin, for the first time in ages, feels hydrated and balanced. It’s also a great makeup remover – 2-in-1 star product!

Eliz Kuscu

This month there’s been one piece of clothing that’s been at the forefront of my wardrobe and that’s my leather jacket. LA may be endlessly sunny, but I still wear it constantly. It’s just so versatile and timeless and adds instant edge to any outfit – even something simple like a t-shirt and jeans. (One time I wore it over a pajama top and still, somehow, felt chic!)
