“Monthly Favorites” is the YouTube tag that refuses to die, and for good reason: 1) it’s a great way to share and discover new and thrilling products/tools/snacks/media, and 2) there’s nothing more compelling than knowing what other people find compelling.

Today, I, Joellen, am sharing my April favorites with you. (And I fully expect you to return the favor in the comments section of this post! FYI, am especially keen to hear about your favorite anti-frizz hair tonics. The war against humidity is real, ppl!)

That princess sleeve/square neck/corset-style top trend that’s been everywhere lately has me v. excited. This Orseund Iris one isn’t exactly the most practical for my wallet, so I went the Reformation route – significantly more “affordable,” without dipping into the fast-fashion pool.

There are two types of people out there: those that loathe glitter, and those that wouldn’t mind bathing in it. I am the latter. After falling hard for Milk Makeup’s holographic Highlighter Stick, my obsession intensified and I progressed to their Glitter Stick (which deposits micro glitter in its truest, most unadulterated form). This will be living on my cheekbones, eyes, and lips all summer long.

Although I’ve lived in my place for 8 months, I’m still playing around with the interior, constantly picking up new pieces to help its evolution. This plant pedestal by Eric Trine is my new favorite. I’m currently using it as a side table to accompany my lower-set vintage couches.

Homestate in Los Feliz/East Hollywood is the best thing I’ve eaten all month. The Tex-Mex menu consists of a large selection of tacos, burritos, and dips for both omnivores and veg-lovers alike. Their flour tortillas are made in-house and are melt-in-your-mouth amazing, and trust me when I tell you: get the queso.

Season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale picks up where the Margaret Atwood novel ends. Initially this freaked me out, but now that I’ve watched the season premiere I’m no longer worried. It’s crazy suspenseful and super graphic. I recommend watching through fingers while shrieking and clutching a loved one.

xo, Joellen
